Breast Augmentation

One of the main reasons for having breast augmentation surgery is that your breasts are too small compared to your body or not the size you desire. Breast augmentation surgery may also be performed for health reasons in individuals whose breasts have been removed following breast cancer or due to some genetic diseases.

How is the Breast Augmentation Surgery Process?

Breast augmentation surgery takes an average of 1 hour, and you will be examined prior to the operation. After the necessary measurements, the most suitable breast prosthesis (breast silicone) for your body structure is selected in line with your wishes, and the breast augmentation surgery is performed. Although breast aesthetics is a relative concept, there are still some rules to be followed. In other words, during the breast aesthetics process, a breast prosthesis (breast silicone) can be placed in sizes permitted by your chest diameter after the examination. You may want it to be much larger, but these measurements must be taken into account in breast aesthetics.
When you come out of the breast augmentation surgery, you will have a dressing and a bandage on it. You may feel some pain. However, these pains are minimized with painkillers. Your discharge time from the hospital is 24 hours, and you can easily return to your normal life in an average of 48-72 hours. The severity of the pain may increase or decrease depending on the plane where the breast prosthesis (silicone prosthesis) is placed. But no matter which technique is used for breast aesthetics surgery, the pain in the first days is easily reduced with painkillers.

The Relationship Between Breast Augmentation Surgery and Breast Cancer

Breast augmentation surgery does not increase the risk of breast cancer. However, the inserted prosthesis may delay the appearance of future cancer tissue in tests. In other words, it can mask it and cause a late diagnosis. To minimize this risk, I request a breast MRI and mammography from every patient in the risk group before the surgery, and I also request an MRI and mammography 1-3 months after the breast prosthesis is placed. Thus, during your routine check-ups in the future, by comparing your pre-operative and post-operative tests, it increases the chance of early diagnosis if there is cancer formation and prevents masking or any confusion.

Will There Be a Scar After Breast Augmentation Surgery?

We can place the breast prosthesis from the armpit, around the nipple, under the breast fold, or from the abdominal area during a tummy tuck. Although these techniques are applied differently to each patient, the most preferred methods are placing the breast prosthesis around the nipple or under the breast. In both techniques, the scars are very minimal, and their visibility decreases even more over the years.

Do You Perform Breast Augmentation Surgery by Placing It Under the Muscle or Under the Fat Tissue?

In breast augmentation surgery, the placement of the breast prosthesis can be under the muscle, under your breast tissue, or in an area called the dual plane.
The area where the Silicone Prosthesis will be placed is generally determined during the examination.

How Much Can Breasts Be Enlarged with Breast Augmentation Surgery?

With breast augmentation surgery, your breasts can be enlarged to the extent permitted by your chest diameter, proportional to your shoulder measurements and height. Since breast aesthetics is a relative concept, the prosthesis size you think will be large may be small for another patient. For this reason, you can make the most accurate decision by talking mutually with your doctor.
