Laser Lipolysis | Liposuction

Laser Lipolysis (Liposuction) is the procedure of removing stubborn regional fat from the body with a vacuum pump and special fine cannulas without damaging the vessels and nerves. This operation is not a weight-loss method, but a body contouring and tightening aesthetic. Op. Dr. Görkem Çalışkan provides a golden ratio to your body by clarifying aesthetic “S” curves in women and creating flatter and more athletic lines in men.

What are Laser Lipolysis and 3D Laser Lipolysis?

The biggest difference of laser lipolysis from classic liposuction is that it uses the heat and tightening effect of laser technology. This heat liquefies stubborn fat cells and facilitates their removal.
3D Laser Lipolysis, on the other hand, is the most modern fat removal method. By combining three different technologies, it allows for more fat to be removed and excellently tightens the skin, reducing the appearance of cellulite.

Who Should Not Have Liposuction (Fat Removal)?

Laser lipolysis is a regional slimming procedure. Therefore, it is not a suitable surgery for patients with a body mass index above 30 (Morbid Obesity). In addition, this operation is not recommended for patients with uncontrolled hormone diseases, severe bleeding disorders, an umbilical hernia, or very advanced skin sagging (laxity). Op. Dr. Görkem Çalışkan meticulously evaluates these criteria during the examination and makes the healthiest decision for you.

What Should Be Considered Before the Surgery?

To get the maximum result from the surgery, we recommend that you start a realistic diet and light exercises at least 2 weeks before the operation. This preparation regulates your body’s fat metabolism. Also, blood thinners, herbal teas, and all kinds of slimming pills must be strictly discontinued before the surgery.

Post-Surgery Recovery and Corset Usage

When you wake up from the surgery, you will feel a slight pressure in the application area; this is your special medical corset that protects your new body form. The length of stay in the hospital is generally between 12 and 48 hours.
You need to use your corset continuously for 1 month without taking it off so that it firmly adheres to the new form of the skin. Small incision scars and temporary bruises that may occur generally fade completely within 30 days. As your edemas go down, you begin to see your real body lines from the 1st month.

When to Start Sports After Fat Removal?

You can return to your daily activities within 5-7 days after the fat removal surgery. The time to start sports is an average of 3-4 weeks. After the second week, with your doctor’s approval, you can start doing light walks, pilates, or fitness without forcing yourself too much.

Which Areas Is It Applied To?

Laser lipolysis can be safely applied to any area with regional fat, such as the abdomen, waist, hips, double chin, and back. A more controlled procedure is performed in the inner leg area to protect the lymph circulation. It can also be combined with breast reduction and tummy tuck surgeries. In men, it is one of the most effective methods in the treatment of gynecomastia (breast enlargement).

What are the Possible Risks and Complications?

As with any surgical procedure, liposuction has some risks. Fluid or blood supplementation may be required for the patient when an excessive amount of fat (over 3-4 liters) is removed. Temporary numbness, slight waviness, or bruises may occur in the application area. The use of a special corset minimizes this risk of waviness. Thanks to his experience and the high technology he uses, Op. Dr. Görkem Çalışkan keeps these complication probabilities at the lowest level.
